Tackling Anti-Social Behaviour - Regional Events for CLG

Achieving mission impossible!

The Department for Communities and Local Government (CLG) contracted Oxygen Live to run 27 events across England over a four week period providing us with only three weeks notice to prepare before the series kicked off – all the events had to take place before the General Election was called.  This involved researching and booking suitable community venues in specific boroughs as well as recruiting the audience to attend - a mix of practitioners and concerned residents.

Some acheivments:

  • Created a database from scratch for 27 events across multiple public, private and voluntary sector organisations.
  • Researched each one both online and by telephone, networking within each organisation to find key influencers and elicit support.
  • Handling sensitive situations and resistance due to time pressures.
  • Managing this process across a team of up to 6 consultants in a way that cascaded out learning from early projects and increased our efficiency as the programme progressed
  • Dealing with "moving target" of events still being planned/changed througout the campaign
  • Handling inbound queries from contacts as part of the campaign and creating a feedback loop to the client
  • Created 27 different posters each downloadable from the web

Outreach campaign in numbers:

  • 27 events promoted within 54 days, delivered across 6 weeks
  • 1497 people contacted across 900 different organisations
  • 2304 telephone calls made
  • 1046 individual emails sent (not bulk emails)
  • 671 organisations agreed to promote (only 29 did not promote)
  • Over 2000 registered delegates
